Grand Opening held for new convenience store
By Harlan J Beagley
DAGUSCAHONDA — Blasting out over the airwaves of The River 98.9 FM— “Free coffee! Free newspapers!… prizes, stop in now and visit the new store,” the DJ’s excitement guided a throng of locals to the newly opened little store. Aptly named “The Store,” a new convenience store in the village of Daguscahonda celebrated their official grand opening Wednesday May 18th. Located on Rt. 120 between Ridgway and St. Marys. Before the ribbon cutting one of the owners DJ Vanslander showed local dignitaries around and explained how the building once was the site of “Agosti Auto Body.” After a complete renovation the newly open merchant has very little of the original building structure remaining. Local builder H & L Contracting said it took all winter to help Vanslander complete the project. Board members for both the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce were on hand at the crowed little store along with local residents of the town of 57 homes. Hours of operation are said to be 6:00 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
